Last night we were invited to the opening party of all open parties for the relaunch of clubbing mecca Pacha.
After a brief press conference from Pacha Manager Victor Agudo and chief architect Juli Capella where we learnt about the main changes and reasons for this long awaited relaunch we were excitedly ushered into the club to see first hand what’s been happening over the long winter in Ibiza’s first and most loved night club. A fantastic show was presented to us in the car park with a flying champagne bottle with pyrotechnics and glitter-balled dancers setting the scene for the night.. At first glance when walking in you feel like nothing’s changed although there is a new room to the left called the Pachacha room which will be a welcomed second dance floor as the funky room is also no more. On approach to the second club entrance we were greeted by two huge glass windows which are decorated with the famous Pacha cherries and I saw ahead of me a cheeky glimpse of what looked like a huge transformation for this clubbing royalty venue.
The old global room is gone and in its place is a new bar and seating area which we imagine will be handy for those tired dancing feet on breaks from the main room. The white farmhouse style walls remain and what was most prominent was the white glow which almost lured us down into the main room..
Walking down what seems like less steps to the main room straight away I was wowed but the now huge open space. Straight away I noticed the DJ booth which was previously reserved for Solomun’s weekly show is now we hear the main DJ area which we think is a great move to have it as the focus. We will be interested to know if the VIP area behind the DJ booth works, we’ll update you soon. Long time Pacha resident DJ Angel Linde opened up the show with some classic House anthems mixed with live performances from some fantastic singers and performers. The whole night had a WOW factor event indeed. Moving through the night Angel Linde changed the mood before the main event playing more deeper percussive sounds which welcomed the main headliner DJ Hot Since 82 suitably.
>Noticeable changes are the normal DJ booth is gone but the sound engineers remain above but now underneath is an extended slick bar area; we are not sure how long the wooden white floorboards will stay so stain free for..
The whole ceiling is new, with a world class lighting rig that made the typically stunning Pacha dancers shine like ethereal gods to us mere mortal clubbers and press.. There’s a new upper level of VIP tables that sit high above the main room giving a great vantage point to the main action. What we liked most about this new Pacha is the way they have kept the original ibicenco finca feel at the heart of the venue, but with the feeling of a top swanky super club when you enter with their extensive changes and open spaces. At midnight the club was heaving and it was like the height of summer was upon us but it is only the first weekend of May. As Hot since 82 came on for the first of a months program of ‘All Night Long’ shows with DJ royalty appearances including Sven Vath and Fat Boy Slim, the public entered and we hear that over 5,000 people attended and enjoyed the night. We wish Pacha all the best for the season and thank you for letting us experience such a special night first hand first 🍒
