Review | Heart Ibiza goes into Extra time

Martin

It’s been a whirlwind of a summer for the Marina Botafoch hotspot as the curtain finally fell for HEART Ibiza. Refined music, art-centric performances and scintillating glamour, the club shows no signs of slowing down, right to the very end! Acid Sunday on 13th October, a special edition HEART Factory on 20th October and the well-known Halloween party on 31st October, HEART Ibiza’s seasonal closing party pulled some serious strings together.

With its doors staying open for a long final hurrah, the 10am curfew allowed for some spectacular extended sets. As ever, the club’s trademark HEART Ibiza magic was in full swing – the Adrià brothers and Guy Laliberté’s creation being testament to what happens when you follow your passion. Not one to compromise on splendour, the final roster to grace the booth held a dazzling composition of Salomé, Apollonia and Traumer. A surprise guest announcement on the night revealed that the mighty Luciano was the final name to take to the decks. While the night outside the club saw autumn rain, inside nothing was going to stop the island’s glitterati from showing their support for this final show.

Spreading far and wide across the cavernous club’s dancefloor, the crowd gathered in time for Luciano’s onset. The maestro DJ was as effortless as ever in delivering his musical talent, capturing the audience’s attention with his funky, uplifting tracks with a cunningly spicy punch. The character of the quirky venue and fabulously dressed cabaret dancers sashaying to the sparky beats prove that nowhere does it quite like HEART Ibiza.

The stunning rooftop terrace was a flurry of rivalling action as revellers mingled beneath a juniper tree draped in fairy lights, immersing themselves in the many activities including tarot card reading, market stall shopping and a plethora of Instagram-ready photo booths perfect for capturing the night’s memories. French flair hit the decks at 4am as Apollonia, the stellar trio, started their four-hour extravaganza; a sonic journey that opened with a chunky, funky and glockenspiel-riddled anthem.  The vinyl was out in force as some quality records were brought out to play.

The energy was sky high as the dancefloor was surrounded with a feel-good frenzy and clubbers danced the night away in pure, unfiltered joy. Sadly work duties called and we had to peel ourselves away from a sunrise finale, leaving Apollonia to finish his set alongside the mighty Traumer; the night kept us hooked much longer than intended. An institution that continues to charm with its visionary taste, our hats are off to another season. Well done HEART Ibiza – bravo indeed!
